International Women’s Day 2025 at Sussex Premier Health
At Sussex Premier Health, we are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 on Saturday, 8th March.
This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” is a powerful reminder that progress towards gender equality and improved healthcare for women needs to happen faster.
“Accelerate Action,” highlights the urgency of advancing gender equality and breaking down the barriers that continue to hold women back. With healthcare playing a crucial role in women’s well-being, we are committed to ensuring women have access to expert-led medical care, empowering them to take control of their health.
Why is International Women’s Day Important?
International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration—it is a movement to push for meaningful change. Despite progress over the years, gender inequalities persist in healthcare, workplaces, and everyday life.
Women still face disparities in medical research, access to healthcare, workplace opportunities, and leadership roles.
At the current rate of progress, it could take until 2158 to achieve full gender equality—that’s five generations from now. That’s why we must accelerate action to drive positive change faster.
Why is This Year’s Theme “Accelerate Action”?
The #AccelerateAction theme is a call to step up efforts towards gender equality. The world has made strides in women’s rights, but progress is too slow.
In healthcare alone:
Women’s health conditions are under-researched – Historically, medical research has focused more on men’s health, leading to gaps in understanding conditions that disproportionately affect women.
Many women struggle to access specialist care – From reproductive health to menopause management, tailored healthcare services for women need greater prioritisation.
Health conditions affecting women are often dismissed – Studies show that women’s pain and symptoms are sometimes not taken as seriously as men’s in medical settings, leading to delayed diagnoses and treatments.
It’s time to act faster—to push for change in policy, research, healthcare access, and workplace equality so that women everywhere receive the respect, care, and opportunities they deserve.
Why Gender Equality Benefits Everyone – Including Men
Gender equality isn’t just a women’s issue—it benefits society as a whole. When women have equal access to education, healthcare, and career opportunities, it leads to:
Better Healthcare for Everyone – Medical advancements improve when both men’s and women’s health are equally researched and prioritised.
Stronger Economies – Studies show that gender equality boosts economic growth and innovation.
Healthier Families & Communities – When women thrive, families and entire communities experience greater well-being and financial stability.
More Inclusive Workplaces – Companies that promote gender diversity perform better and foster a more positive, productive environment for everyone.
Men play a vital role in supporting gender equality. By being allies—speaking up against discrimination, supporting women’s health and career opportunities, and advocating for fair policies—men help create a fairer world.
