Mr Yesar El-Dhuwaib is a Consultant General and Laparosocpic Colorectal Surgeon and treats patients in Hastings, East Sussex.

I have over 20 years wealth of experience. I trained in Manchester, Bristol, York, Leeds, and completed my fellowship in bowel dysfunction and inflammatory bowel disease at The Royal London Hospital (Barts Health). I have outstanding surgical skills including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. I operate and suture right and left-handed. I am an expert in colorectal cancer, bowel dysfunction and inflammatory bowel disease.

I provide the following services: Hernia and gallbladder surgery (open and keyhole); Advanced minimal invasive surgery (keyhole) for bowel cancer, diverticular disease, colitis and Crohn’s disease; Surgery for Trans-anal minimal invasive surgery (TAMIS) for early rectal cancer; Specialist in treating constipation, faecal incontinence and advanced prolapse surgery; Treatment for all types of hemorrhoids, fissure in ano and fistula in ano surgery; Treatment for all lumps and bumps;

I am JAG accredited for Colonoscopy and I am a highly trained surgeon in colorectal surgery. I have performed over 300 bowel cancer surgeries and I am a specialist laparoscopic surgeon (keyhole). My completed laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery rate of bowel cancer is over 90 percent. I have also performed over 300 hernia repairs (50% laparoscopic), over 100 operations for Haemorrhoids, fissure in ano, pilonidal sinus surgery and fistula surgery, over 300 emergency laparotomy and laparoscopic surgery for emergency bowel pathology and performed over 40 operations for rectal prolapse and obstructive obstruction surgery.

I am the Trauma lead for General surgery and surgical lead for Perioperative quality improvement program at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and am also the lead for TAMIS (Trans-anal minimal invasive surgery) for early rectal cancer and large rectal polyp.

I am the surgical lead for Medical Students at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and am also an examiner at the General Medical Council.

I am married with two boys and live in Hawkhurst. My wife Suzan works as a community pharmacist in Hastings. I enjoy travelling to historic sites and explores different cultures.

I am a keen researcher and has published over twenty articles in peer-reviewed journals and over forty presentations at national and international meetings. I have been awarded a number of prizes including Brendan Devlin Prize from The British Hernia Society and was nominated twice for the prestigious Karl Storz Award from the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery EAES in 2009 and 2013. I completed my MSc in Surgical Practice from University of Kent.
